GET INVOLVED

Looking for resources for schools?

While we recognize the importance of school-based learning, OSS does not make school presentations or receive grant funding for school outreach and education. Rather, we focus on opportunities to involve schools in on-the-ground stewardship projects in their communities that align with our Strategic Plan.

If you are an educator and have a project in mind for your class (eg. garbage pick of a nearby natural area, or a natural area in a community park that could use some enhancement), feel free to reach out to us at info@osstewardship.ca.

Otherwise, here are some local groups who have school programs and initiatives:

Okanagan Simikalkameen Conservation Alliance
Environmental Education Centre for the Okanagan
Allan Brooks Nature Centre
Okanagan Basin Water Board
BC Outdoor Education Cooperative
Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation ~ education programs

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT >

We respectfully acknowledge that our stewardship work takes place on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Syilx (Okanagan) People. For countless generations, the Syilx People have cared for these lands, waters, plants, and wildlife through their knowledge, laws, and responsibilities to the natural world.

As an organization dedicated to conservation and stewardship, we recognize that caring for ecosystems is not a new practice but one that has been guided by Indigenous Peoples since time immemorial. We honour the Syilx Nation's enduring stewardship and commit to fostering respectful relationships with the land and with the people who have always called it home.

VISION

We all take care of the land and nature so that they thrive
