Today, we celebrate all the incredible fathers and father figures out there – including those in the animal kingdom! 🐦

Did you know that in the world of spotted sandpipers, it's the males who step up to the plate as primary caregivers? These dedicated dads take on the crucial roles of incubating the eggs and caring for the chicks.

Once the female lays her eggs, the male spotted sandpiper takes over, diligently keeping them warm and protected. He stays committed to his tiny future sandpipers, ensuring they have the best start in life. This Father's Day, let’s give a shoutout to all the amazing dads who nurture and support their young, whether they have two legs or wings!

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT >

We respectfully acknowledge that our stewardship work takes place on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Syilx (Okanagan) People. For countless generations, the Syilx People have cared for these lands, waters, plants, and wildlife through their knowledge, laws, and responsibilities to the natural world.

As an organization dedicated to conservation and stewardship, we recognize that caring for ecosystems is not a new practice but one that has been guided by Indigenous Peoples since time immemorial. We honour the Syilx Nation's enduring stewardship and commit to fostering respectful relationships with the land and with the people who have always called it home.
